The Astral Compass
An Adventurer's Quest


You are a member of Professor Bornquist's Roaming Band of Adventurers. You're free to come and go as you please, but the professor's journey will continue regardless. His goal? To learn all and any secrets of The Astral Compass, a mystery baffling researchers for over a century. Neither its purpose, its origins, nor even the ways it functions are fully understood yet. Will anyone ever find out? Maybe, but not without your help.

This is going to be an ongoing contest, open at all times for people to come and go as they please. I haven't decided whether it will ever end or not, but I'll try to keep the story going for as long as possible. I might have some special twists or changes somewhere down the line, but for now I'll keep things standard fare. Criteria will be loosely tied to whatever is currently happening during the journey.

Of course, your quest begins at the North Nusperian University - where else, other than the professor's work place? Pack your stuff, it's time to go.
Create an artifact you'd take on a journey. Round ends in 48 hours.

Yarium enters the professor's workshop. Wierd bells and whistles toot and scream as the professor's wild contraptions do mundane tasks like cutting cheese, or powering a fan. The professor's always been wacky though, and when Yarium was told that this was "the adventure of a lifetime", he made sure to grab his trusty knapsack.

If you would search your library for a card, search your library for a land instead and put it onto the battlefield.
All roads lead to home, which can be very frustrating at times.

Sacrifice Augur's Skull: The next time damage from a source you don't control would reduce your life total to 0 or less this turn, you draw that many cards instead. (If you have 2 life and would be dealt 3 damage, you draw 3 cards and your life total remains the same.)
It is said to be the wielder's own skull from a doomed future. Once said future is prevented, it crumbles away.

Garick swore repeatedly under his breath as he wrestled the cumbersome object down the hall. Four years being Bornquist's bleeding manservant and he was still the last person to know when the damn man was about to set off on a trip. Still, anywhere the prof went, so did Garick and so too did the ornate and rather ominous box he was presently struggling with. Strange, he'd never seen what was inside the blasted thing...

Guess I'll address this now, since it's popped up a couple of times already: Adding story and roleplay to your posts is not necessary and never will be, but it is a perfectly fine thing that you could do to spice things up a little. In fact, if it's worked into the card, you might even nab yourself an extra point or two for flavor if it's good enough. However, it will never be mandatory, and it's still perfectly possible to get a 10/10 without any of that.
