Hearth Sliver - Interesting flavor justification. Domesticated slivers are somewhat frightening, but they would definitely be useful. The mechanic is kinda niche, but I can see it being good for sideboards. 9/10 Pompous Psychopomp - That's a good balance between repeatable tutoring and the hoops you have to go through to get there. Might be useful to deck thin via ornithopters, which is kinda funny. The flavor is pretty chilling, and fits well with the mechanics. 10/10 Record of the Makers - Interesting, I can definitely see how this would lead to the creation of a plane, while leaving the actual spell that does so a mystery. I like how even though this is absurdly powerful, there's enough time before going off that your opponent can maybe deal with it. 10/10 Total: 29/30
Confused
From the Ashes - This is pretty neat, powerful but also difficult to use without dying first. Some mix of sacrifice and wrath effects would no doubt speed it along, while also providing some survivability and control. I like the nuance of the flavor text, hinting at extreme measures taken in pursuit of utopia/an ideal. 10/10 Ancient Silver - This seems oppressive, especially in competitive formats. That's not even getting into memory issues. The flavor is pretty disconnected from the rest of the card, and gives almost no insight as to what the sliver specializes in. 6/10 Traumatized Hero - While the flavor expressed in the mechanics is vibrant, the actual flavor text goes for too long, and is somewhat redundant. I find it ironic, and perhaps cynical that the best thing to do is to kill the ferryman side as soon as it appers. On the other hand, if you manage to keep other creatures from dying, then the hero won't haunt you, and that's a neat bit of flavor. 9.5/10 Total: 25.5/30
Once again, a season draws to a close, and we must have a winner. Many great cards have been created, and I would like to thank you all for overcoming my absurd criteria. Congratulations to Tevish Szat for winning in the final round, and... [dramatic music]
GRAND TOTAL SCORES
Tevish Szat: 16.5+27.5+29.5+29 = 102.5
Confused: 17.5+28.5+29+25.5 = 100.5
Congratulations to Tevish Szat, the Three Times Chopped Champion!
********************************************** This may have been a shorter season than normal, but it has been a pleasure to grade. Thank you once again for participating.
